2. Ordering Checks for a New Account

The following procedure will take you through the process of ordering checks for a checking account that has just been created.

Main Menu

The Main Menu is your first stop for everything you do in LDWeb, which you should be looking at right now. The Main Menu allows you to access account information and begin the ordering/reordering process for checks, accessories, and payment books (whichever your financial institution offers), as well as view reports or do ChexSystems and Credit Bureau inquiries (if offered by your FI). The upper right-hand portion of the screen displays the user, account ID, and address of the financial institution. Financial institutions that have member ID enabled can also search for account information and initiate the order/reorder process with a member ID.

Initiating the check ordering process for new accounts:

  1. When ordering checks for an account for the first time, you must first click the drop-down arrow in the box next to R & T Info and highlight the correct R & T number. This number refers to the routing and transit number. If there is only one R & T number for your FI, LDWeb pre-fills that R & T number, and you will not be able to change it.

The R & T number is used in the routing of transit items (checks) through financial institutions and item processors. There are various approaches institutions can take for setting up their facilities' and members' accounts with an R & T. Some institutions will have several R & T numbers to distinguish between Money Market accounts, Retirements accounts, etc. Others will have one R & T number for all types of accounts. Your financial institution's setup will determine how many R & T numbers appear on the Main Menu page.

  1. Type the MICR Account Number in the MICR Account box. (Use a new account holder's account number to complete this step. While in LD Web's training mode, you will not actually be changing account holder information or placing an actual order.) The MICR Account # is the account number assigned by the financial institution to a particular account holder. It’s the identifying number for posting transactions to an account.

  2. Click the Go button. This will bring you to the Account Switchboard.
